About  - Anna Falk

In a physical meditation on interconnection, my paintings depict form as both distinct and ubiquitous. With the obscuration of shadow as a tool to echo the collective unconscious, I transform distinct figures and scenes into suggestions of such- archetypal nods to Jungian psychology.

Conceptual contradictions are fundamental to my practice. My painted and printed sequences create an illusory kineticism from fragments of work on a static medium, yet a broader description of my work as 'figurative abstraction' (though not quite contradictory) raises an interesting paradox within personal reflection and creation. These contradictions influence my material process through cycles of sanding, dissolution, and repainting.
